A Note from the Founder
For over 25 years, Sally I. Kailola has met many inspiring women committed to creating a better future for people and nature, while also witnessing how women’s voices and leadership are often limited or unheard. WUSI was founded as a safe and collaborative space where women can connect, share, learn, and grow together, bringing empathy, experience, and collective action into meaningful sustainability impact. Through trust, shared values, and collaboration, WUSI believes women can lead, inspire, and create lasting positive change for future generations.
Why WUSI, Why Now
Sustainability challenges today are increasingly complex, interconnected, and urgent. Climate change, social inequality, and environmental degradation are no longer isolated issues they intersect with livelihoods, governance, markets, and community resilience. At the same time, women continue to be underrepresented in decision-making spaces, despite their deep experience leading change at community, organizational, and systems levels. Their knowledge, leadership, and lived perspectives are critical to shaping solutions that are inclusive, durable, and grounded in reality.
Women United for Sustainability Impact (WUSI) was created to respond to this gap.
We exist to connect women leaders across sectors, create space for collaboration and learning, and turn collective expertise into meaningful sustainability impact. Why now? Because incremental change is no longer enough. This moment calls for collaboration across boundaries, leadership rooted in equity, and action that delivers real outcomes for people and for the planet.
